A Raven's Song

A Raven's Song

A Poem by ♥ Ari Skye ♥
"

The poem, I feel, explains itself.

"
Beautifully majestic,
yet sad in so many ways.
A beautiful black raven
stuck inside a steel cage.

With no one left to free it,
it sings a mournful song.
A melody so sad
you cry all day long.

The raven's song speaks to me,
in words only my heart understands.
It sings of the hurt and abandonment
of one lonely man.

When the raven's mournful
tune is done, I wipe the tears from my eyes.
Their color matches how I feel inside.

Oh, beautiful raven
with your majestic song.
Mournful, yet beautiful,
singing all day long.

How is it, you know
my heart's pain?

Could it be,
my spirit is you?

Trapped,
within a man made cage.

this had many layers for me..first I thought about Edgar Allan Poe's poem The Raven. I was raised in Baltimore so of course the Baltimore Ravens also came to mind. Now to the poem. This was a well crafted piece with dark hues of pain and sadness. the last six stanzas connected everything sew well. SEW for emphasis purely intentional. great job with this piece

Ashley, you have captured a lot of questions that spring from souls that want freedom in being who they are. The metaphor of the cage fits perfectly with the message of the poem.
