Purple Haze

Purple Haze

A Poem by Atton Brown
"

Each stanza starts with a line from the song "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix, my take on it thought. tell me what you think

"

Lately things don’t seem the same
I’ve been recovering, becoming tame
Lame
My thoughts are misogynistic
My intentions unrealistic
Idealistic?
SCATTERBRAINED
And my mind is strained
Derailed becomes my train of thought
As I try to ward off all that haunts

So...

Excuse me while I kiss the sky
It’s my final chance to say goodbye
I’m dying to live but we’re living just to die
Oxymoronic?
The bubonic plague of our existence
Histrionic in your wild persistence
Taking all the world but giving nothing back
Finding faults in others, neglecting what we lack

Is it tomorrow or the end of time?
Is there joy or is life just asinine?
Is there love or is it just pain?
A life after all this cosmic strain?
Purple haze all in my brain…
