The Plight of Eyes

The Plight of Eyes

A Poem by Devashish Kumar

Possess if did I an erudite vocabulary-
bejeweled with golden and silver words,
an ability to choose words appropriate,
and rainbow imagination of prolific poets
I would describe your splendid smile,
tresses of your dark hair tumbling about,
that mischievous dot on your proud nose,
and brilliant sparkle of your almond eyes
in delicate details- ornately embellished with
telling metaphors and beautiful imageries.
I, being ineloquent, have but few broken words.
The only thing I can say to you is that
my poor eyes want not to blink when
you- dazzlingly radiant- are in their sight.
