They Say

They say smile.

But I frown.

They say keep your head up.

But I look down.

 

They say it’s okay.

But it’s actually not.

They say keep peace.

But I’ve still fought.

 

They say be happy.

But I’m still sad.

They say control your anger.

But I still get mad.

 

They say love.

But I still hate.

They say follow your dreams.

But I don’t believe in fate.

 

They say cherish life.

But it’s something I despise.

They say tell the truth.

But I’m covered in lies.

 

They say be strong.

But I always cry.

No matter what they say.

I still want to die.

The mood of my writing is more on the sad side.

The rhymes seem unforced and it flows smoothly, packed with depth and truth.

Having read many poems on here it seems sadness, hurt, heartbreak are the inspiration for many to write. The down side to that is that most trot out the same old guff to the point where it becomes boring.

My style isn't happy. I can't write happy. I take my real emotions, and my real experiences and write them out on paper, or digital paper. My style is sad. I write sad things, because I am a sad person. I'm not trying to be creative. I'm using Poetry as an outlet for my depression. Over and Out.
