To Forgive

To Forgive

A Poem by Miles Wilburn
"

Forgiving one who's hurt you, and giving yourself the closure you need

"
We gave it everything we had
to the moon and back again.
The love sustained us for a time,
But we were restless and wild.

I forgive you for the pain;
The hurt that wrecked my soul
I hope that you can forgive me
For the hope I let unfold.

I clung to memories set ablaze.
My brain burned with fear and shame.
My heart seared with anger,
An ever present pain

But I must move forth
As I hope you have.
I wished our love could've remained,
And that we could go back.

Relive all those memories like that time at the zoo,
Or when I shared my deepest thoughts
Lying next to you.

But those moments are just memories,
Passed in the blink of an eye
Closure to a chapter,
A beautiful part of my life.
