How to Play (The Teenage Game)

How to Play (The Teenage Game)

A Poem by Gustan Joseph

They want to watch you and everything that you do.
Eyes pressed against your window,
stock to the glass like glue.
The lack of consideration will push you over the edge.
Being clueless only makes it harder for you to sleep in your bed.

I really don’t care who’s sucking on who.
You just  keep pretending like you got nothing better to do
than to listen to every little thing that they say,
and just keep smile until they finally walk away.

Tell me your secrets,
I want you to spill your guts.
Because everybody knows everything
even though they don’t know much.
Don’t be a gentleman and say you’ll never kiss and tell,
because only angles go to heaven
and only liars go to hell.

 You’ll  get no sleep’
cause there’s always a party going on .
You’ll  be stock in a corner getting drunk to every song.
You’ll become so sick and feel like it’s all the same,
though you’re just another pawn playing in the teenage game.

Author's Note

Gustan Joseph
I feel like everything that I say and do with my friends is a part of a bigger game built around getting attention, and talking just to talk. I don't want to play these games anymore.
