A Poem by Devyani

When the beginnings start to fade

And the silence takes over

We never know what to say

In the merriment of the crowd.

Nothing as hollow

As the shadows in the dark

Like the sonorous whispers

Over the oppressive hearts.

The Empire that fell

In a wretched fire of flames

Left behind a whisking parity

Between the love and the hate.

Soon the wise shall look to see

Yet fail to see what could be seen

Even if balanced vistas laid in sight

Endings mocked the tales of time.

Between the drowning shores

And the rising sinister feelings

There seemed to be intrinsic fallacy

In never ending chances of ambiguity.

But they'll leave without a word;

Gone without a trace,

Leaving behind a dull ache

And a footprint in the waves.

Author's Note

Writing after a long time, cut me some slack! :) But constructive criticism never rejected! Also, wouldn't mind suggestions for a new title! xD I'm running on blanks here!
Have a nice day xx

will do ..i love your contrast in the parity between what was and is and is mixed together now...wondering what meaning you wanted to impart with the "Whisking" word useage..."The Empire that fell

In a wretched fire of flames

Left behind a ...whisking.... parity

Between the love and the hate."

it gives Me a blended..meaning in the useage here...while the rest of the piece gives off clashing disparity feelings...just asking about what you are thinking...just sayin', ya' know?..Laury

A lot of honest words and emotions in this poem. Easy to get lost in this world. Hard to find a place where we feel needed and wanted. I believe people who are kind and know real love will leave footprints on the souls of many. Thank you for your powerful poem. Always can open the door to many questions.
