She had always dreamed of stars

She had always dreamed of stars

A Poem by BlathannaRóisín

She had always dreamed of holding stars between her fingers.
At night she'd lie, her face against the window, and dream.
Dream of being home inside the twilight, as stars danced across her skin
and sang their silent song for only her to hear.
She'd reach out her hand into the misty darkness and beckon all to come.
each one she'd know by name, each one would hear her call and answer.
But dawn would fall and day would break and any trace of stars would vanish.
But she, this little girl, could see them hiding behind their screen of blue and she would wait.
Day was only temporary, she'd be home again at night.

This is a beautiful piece of poetry with intricate imagery, and beautiful lines. The first line of the poem drew me in and the rest of the poem followed suit. I very much enjoyed reading this poem, thank you for entering it into my contest and congratulations on placing.
