I'd Like to Die For the PressA Poem by BenjaminW
I'd like to die in a shark attack
a train wreck or a natural disaster die with the precision of a race car pile up only louder and incoherently faster Jealous of victims and national coverage envious of attention and shameless pluggage my masochism of egotism unheralded in witless fascination I'd like to die in an abduction skydiving or be lost at sea so long as it is filmed, ready made for TV I want my name on the nightly news my face on the cover of the tabloid slew my story sensational even if a bit untrue give me media and give me death cash in big on my last breath I'd like to die amidst celebrated fanfare instantly famous albeit unaware © 2011 BenjaminW |
