Unhaven

I was given an extra credit assignment to copy the structure of 'The Raven' by Edger Allen Poe. This is the verse I came up with. Its my 'The Raven' sploof.

Here I sit alone to wonder, ponder at my hopeless fonder.

As I wait to travel in that place were I keep all I hold dear;

Seeking what I left behind, left because I sought to find my mind.

A search that made me bind the kind of words that you at long last hear,

A strong bind to hide the kind of words that at long last you now hear.

This is sad and that is clear.

This was awesome. Now, I must say, I know nothing at all about poetry and if i had to sit down and write a poem i would probably just starting bleeding out my ears! But, i know that i like this.

I am of the opinion that no one can duplicate the work of Poe. I think that this is a good piece for the purpose it was to serve but it does not capture what Poe's work did. The rhyme is somewhat forced and is not of the caliber done by Poe. This piece also lacks the same powerful poetic devices.
