The Beast and the Harness

The Beast and the Harness

A Poem by Michael Guccione
"

Depression, alcohol and drug abuse, and hypocrisy.

"

You don't want to feel good.
You enjoy feeling sick and disgusted.
On my knees, praying to puke up these demons.
Send them out the a*s end of a barrel.
Inhale a whiff of smoke, suffocate them and yourself in sleep.
Can't feel good if you feel incomplete.
You don't want to feel good.
It feels good;  the pleasure of the pain of Never.
Never will it be different.
Never will you end it.
Cower from self-sacrifice.
Administer casual derangement to gradually disengage from it.
Even cowards still have options.
That other one inside feels nauseous and won't drop it.
Caution and cautiously debate him.
The pain you share/ The anger you can relate to him.
Pardon the mean-spirited eruptions.
There's no derailing this train of thoughts.
Fury is overwhelming like those other disgusting bodily functions.
The feeling refuses to retreat silently.
The beast stretches against the harness, blindly.
When they give way, you give away.
An expose of true dual nature.
The beast features both sides of your coin.
It's a shame you can't decide which one to blame.
All the same, all is pain.
All is strain on the harness that binds.
The ties remind the beast what a wicked feat time is.
And the rhymes have no soul like your beast at the hour's toll.

I'd hate to be the subject in question
but at times maybe we all are

The theme of the road to casual self destruction is well expressed
