The Other One

The Other One

A Poem by Chiara

There will be another one
I see her now, your fingers entwined
The look of love in your eyes as you gaze at her.
I hate her across time and space and she doesn't know it yet.

I see her
Stealing the kisses that should be mine
Receiving the smiles that should be mine
Inheriting the tears that are mine
And you will ring her incessantly
Your force of passion will overwhelm her
Whilst I remain in the shattered remnants of our love.

You will have years of secrets.
She will be jealous of our secrets but you will reassure her
That I am nothing to you anymore
That you will never break her like you broke me
That you are hers and you will love her forever
And she, believing,
Feels your heartbeat next to hers
As you hold her in your arms.
