Memories of Memories

Just remembering about remembering!

MEMORIES OF MEMORIES

How old are memories,

The images of histories;

Alive, until forgotten;

Special, until spoken;

Clear recall is too short;

They fill the mind and heart;

Embossed on each soul;

On prince and fool;

Eternally, remembered to remind;

Spaceless, speechless, deaf, and blind;

Some yesterday lingers, today,

And in tomorrows, again, today;

The only way to learn,

They are everywhere we turn;

Flashes or endless stories;

Memories of memories.

we think of memories in terms of images; there ought to be a word for the feelings they can summon; it is that that "re-minds" and teaches...you certainly tread the lanes proper to excellent poetry (to my mind)...
