A Sinner's Confession

A Sinner's Confession

A Poem by Saturnalia
"

Because I never knew the truth.

"
Dear Lord, I'm afraid to say
What I now believe.
I still feel you near
Though I know you are unreal.

I have always doubted
For the longest time
About everything You
Ever told me was true.

So my questions are evil
According to them.
"Believe without doubt."
That's what I've always been told.

But I have been wondering.
Lord, is that a sin?
I don't want to ask
If what I am is a sin.

I never thought this would be
What it has become
But now I think the truth
Is something not found with You.

So now they think I am wrong
Because I don't think
The same way they do.
I don't regret what I feel.

I believe in nothing but
what I can see and
I never did see
The love you all claim exists.

You can be just as wrong as
Me and my beliefs.
We can't know for sure
Before we're free from the world.

You tell me I'm wrong for not
Trusting in the mass.
I just want to find
Something I can believe in.

And if that means enduring
Your outcries against
What you are blind to.
I will turn the other cheek.

Because I feel free without
The ethereal chains
That entangled me.
I think I can breathe again.
