Don't Forget Me

Don't Forget Me

A Poem by Mason Rayburn

Don't forget me!
A whisper
A thought
A murmur
A plight
The last words that echoed
Through that cold, lonely night

Don't forget me!
A dream?
It's reality
A scream
It's purgatory
The forever turning cog
Of this turmoil factory

Don't forget me!
That was it
Her last words
Her last sentence
Her last thought
Before she vanished

Don't forget me!
This is it
This is my mark
My existence lonely
My heart clouded dark

I'll leave you with this
My last will and testament
Forget not my face
Forget not my eyes
I've finished my race
And I've won my prize
