True Perfection

True Perfection

A Poem by Courtney
"

This was written to anyone who knows the pain of Bulimia, and who needs to hear these words. I hope inspiration can be found in this poem. xx Despite what you may see, everyone's beautiful

"
Let me hold your hands are shaking,
Let go to me your fear.
I see your composure breaking,
Confide in me, my dear.

Your beauty outshines knuckle scars,
The mirror tells you lies.
Although you fight internal wars
Refrain from self demise.
Lay down your head, I'll hold you tight
To block out all the pain.
Purge you of each lingering fright
Until the beast is slain.
As you let her control your world,
I beg you take it back.
For as your life becomes unfurled
I see your smile crack.
Just look into my eyes and see
Your own self through my view
Then you will know to what degree
That you have fallen through.
An angel sent from up above,
Yet now you're fading fast.
Open your mind to see the love
Before your time has passed
I fear for you to lose control
As you fear your own weight.
Unreachably grotesque, your goal;
Impossible to sate.
You cry when your bones don't show through,
Your vision crumbles down.
Your body shrunk as self hate grew
While deepening your frown.
Each tear you've cried cuts as a knife;
I feel pain with your hate.
Gorgeous soul with beautiful life,
My support was too late.

Open your eyes and break the glass
That's distorting your sight.
If you release, the pain will pass;
Addiction loses bite.
The mirror's eyes reflect your tears
That glisten with the rain.
The lines on your face show the years
That you dealt with your pain.
Alone and scared, your hope was lost,
But Mia proved a friends.
You'll never know how great the cost
Unless you reach the end.
She held you tight and broke your will,
Yet appeared a saviour.
Skewed your image to keep you still,
Ingrained new behaviour.
Your fingers tremble at my touch;
The coldness seeping through.
Just lean on me, I'll be your crutch
If that's all I can do.
Depend on me instead of her,
Let go and come to me.
My being weeps to what you were
And all that you could be.
The striking, vibrant, glowing eyes
That sparkled in the sun
Grow gaunt as result of the lies
That you let your life run.
Get back the smile on your face,
True beauty shall be yours.
Forever stay in my embrace
And close the lying doors.
For a moment, empty your mind.
Think not of vanity.
Allow the pain to now rewind;
Restore your sanity.
Trust what I've seen, and all I know,
Past each dark defection.
Your goal was met so long ago:
You have reached perfection.
