Sun Rise over the fells

Morning

 

Alarm clock goes.

Still not yet light

Open the curtains to see better in the dimness

Lights not required to get dressed

 

Across the land

Far away mountains

Hardly seen against the dark grey sky

Just faint outlines

 

Over the mount

The sky begins to lighten

Silhouetting the mountain peak

Against the lighter sky now redden

 

Now the sky lightens

Brighter still does the light glow

Spreading out behind the peak

Its colour changing to bright Yellow

 

Too bright to see is the small yellow disc

Like a powerful spot light

Straight in your eyes

Over the landscape spreads the warm morning light

This sounds to me like the panning of the camera is focusing from something as small as the alarm clock and zooming, slowly, from the room, the sky, and finally the all encompassing universe. The repetitive nature seems to be the day-to day beauty happening that we don't notice all the time, however it's all happening. Great imagery here. Great read.

The fells are ten miles away over the flat plane
The sun creeps up from behind the fells
We don't see it every day - but it still happens - you/we have such wonderful sights here and we just get on with life - drive past spectacular views with no time to stop > you just concentrate on driving

I noticed your note..light over the fells. Is that Scotland?
It sounds very beautiful. I liked the progression of day coming to be by your description.

No Kathy! It is from our bedroom window
The hills (fells) as about twenty miles away (Caw Fell here)
At the other side (LH) of the hose across is Ennerdale and Buttermere (Valleys and lakes)

We live just outside the Lake District National Park > The Irish Sea off to the right four miles from home

Now live in the Lake District > up on a hill
From our bedroom we can see the sun rise over Great Gable; Caw Fell and Red Pike - it set in the end window _ but houses in the way for a good view
Last week they were all white _ pink in the sunset

Job in the Lakes or in the south more money more traffic & hassle

I have no neighbours & cracking uninterrupted views over countryside, very little traffic and no hassle... Lucky and I know it.....

Slowly coming into focus - well yes but all in a matter of a few minutes > See it go for the camera - Its gone

i have to buy an alarm clock soon, have difficulty determining if it already morning or not unless i pull the curtains down. nice piece of writing my friend, very unique in style. especially the description of the sun like it very much.
