A Moment in Time

A moment in time I hold in my hand
A smile on the face of a dying man
Remembering joyful days, and struggles from his past
Grateful for his every breath, while they last

Laughter from a woman who's lost a lot
No matter how hard she fought
Breathing in the scent of a rose
She warns me of the threat its thorns pose

Life is a simple, and complex story
I feel the pain, and I see the glory
Lessons being learned, courage before long
I see the weak becoming strong

I see how beautiful a single ray of light can be
I see value in the dark times that have touched me
I take both my hands to hold my moment in time
As this wondrous mountain I climb.
