Forget Me Not

A Love Poem

If I suddenly stopped existing
And everyone in the entire world

But you
Forgot about me,
What would you do?

Would you try to convince the world of my existence?

Would you search the entire galaxy for me?

Would you fight armies of angels to find me?

Demons?

Would you search for evidence of my existence to prove your sanity?

Would you let the people you love believe you were insane?

Would you escape the mental hospital they would put you in to find me?

 

And if you found me,
In some dark hovel
Or the deepest part of hell,

What would you do if
I didn’t remember you?

Would you try to convince me that we knew each other?

Would you try to convince me we were lovers?

Would you show me torn polaroids and selfies?

Would you kiss me in hopes that I’d remember our love?

            Our hate?

Would you take me to the place we first met?

Would you caress my cheek like you did when we made love?

Would you hold me tight and hope I’d remember you?

 

If I suddenly stopped existing,
Would you remember me?
