The Unmusing

AP Written for a poetry contest. The prompt was "The Taming of the Muse" Edit: This received an honorable mention in the previously mentioned contest.

I've no need to tame the muse.
It's long been done, you see. 
And since she turned domestic
She's of no use to me.

Submission is discoloration
Obedience is bleakness
Docility is suffocation
Tranquility is weakness

Devilishness makes the muse
That's how it has to be
So now since I made her slavish
All such musing ceased to be

It is a tragi-comedy C.I.
The muse which we need - yes we need - can feel as if they've changed to an extent that we can no longer call on her but maybe it's us who have changed too much and desire a new source of inspiration to suit our new wants.
Then again perhaps they have changed in anticipation of our our own changes - we have yet to catch up.
Loved the thought of the domesticated muse. Loved the phrase 'unmusing' (a bit Disneyish a la Merry Unbirthday song but it made me raise an eyebrow of appreciation).

A good write overall and original. Not surprised it won accolades.
