Edge of DispairA Poem by Elaenor AislingSo this is what it feels like...So this is what it feels like To sit on the edge of despair After you have fought your way through it Tooth and nail, hammer and tongs With plenty of battle wounds To show for it. The tears that feel as if they should come But do not, are as confused As one can be After they have just walked through hell And dragged themselves out at last A broken, defeated body A numb and sullen mind That cannot decide what emotion surges Through it's self Only realization of what it has done And overwhelming regret. A shadow of imperceptible depth That casts its self upon one In utter despair Heart wrenching, mind bending despair That would take an immeasurable amount of Unconditional love To suppress. © 2011 Elaenor Aisling |
