Just Someone

(a.k.a. Captivating Entity and a.k.a. True Friend)

Wouldn't it be nice to just have someone hold your hand?
Not a boyfriend, not a girlfriend.
Not a relative.
Just a friend.
One who's close enough to you to just hold your hand.

The interlocking of fingers,
The warmth radiating from his skin onto yours.
Your head on his should.
Just comforting you.
Being there for you.
Just to keep you company.
It wasn't a necessity.

You sat and watched that screen,
With the colors flashing their light.
But it didn't matter how bright;
Nothing could match the glory of the connection.
Nothing could match the warmth of the affection.

The fingers close together.
 Something to hold on to.
You want to keep it close to you.

But then, the day is gone.
The show on the screen is over.
Your hands move apart.
You're alone, but you're glad
To have that friend you'll forever have.
