Silent Bodies

Collapsing.
Dropping.
They're so weak; they're dying.

They're sprawled out on the ground.
Bodies.
Corpses.

Afraid to walk so close.
Maybe they'll awaken.
Imagining they'll grab you, touch you, speak to you.

But no,
You go.
You touch them.

Skin so cold,
But still soft.
And your love still lingers.

Now, you walk away.
You can't take this pain.
Not for another second, not for another day.

The dead cannot feel.
You considerthat you shouldn't either.
You leave.
