Where Is She?

Where Is She?

A Poem by Ellen Hammond
"

It's lonely without her LOL

"

I’ve searched the house in vain.

Completely wracked my brain.

Checked pockets and my shoes

But still can’t find my muse!

I fear that she has fled

And left an empty head.

My mind has too much room

Hushed quiet, like a tomb.

This wintry cold and snow

Are reasons she might go

Shirking every tether,

Seeking warmer weather.

Perhaps she found a lair,

Lies hibernating there,

Dreaming, until the Spring,

Of new songs she’ll then sing.

Is there some convention,

She forgot to mention?

Or did my wayward muse

Stow away on a cruise?

To be able to write your way out of a black hole is a feat in itself, and you have not only accomplished that, you have done it with panache. I've experienced the same thing myself, twice lately, and it's an uncomfortable and annoying feeling. You treat the subject with such humour that I'm sure your muse will return, if only bcause it doesn't want to be left out of the fun. Great stuff!

This one really resonates within me, I recently lost my muse. Yet it speaks volumes of your ability to find a poem within the darkness of the search. A magnificent write, Ellen.

Hate it when the creative juices take a holiday and leave us cold - but you still manage to create this little gem!

Oh, I can relate to this so well... my muse has only recently returned after a very long and frustrating absence.

The rhyming pattern you have used here is simple, but effective! A very nice piece, especially if written with a lack of muse. A fun read :)

I think she's gone on a fine adventure! When she gets back, she'll have plenty to tell you and oh how the words will flow :)

This is cute by the way.

Oh how adorable and funny!! You'd best find that muse my friend so that she does not get caught on a tropical island without you!! I absolutely love your pics too!!
Cute write!!

Can barely type, I'm chuckling so. Reminded my of the piece I wrote, commemorating and crediting my Muse, "Susie Muse's Uses", begrudgingly yet gratefully admitting her role in my life. No, lass, your Muse is not lost at all, just teasing you a bit! Fine little rant!

This is such a wonderful, fun write that catches the imagination! I love the imagery and flow, and know too well the frustration of searching for the elusive muse... Excellent piece!
