The Girl With No Money

You shrug your shoulders

As you make your way down the street.

You were the one that everybody

Whispered about, the girl with no money.

Everyone thought you were nothing,

But the dust upon another's shoe

You had the books to help you escape,

But instead of reading, you listened.

Gazing toward the horizon,

You never heard a bit of silence.

Whether it'd be people or the animals,

You felt that everything, everywhere, was talking about you.

All you wanted was to stop the voices.

So, you proudly made a noose, placed it around your neck.

You said one last goodbye to the world

And it was all over.

Now, you are no longer 'the girl with no money'.

Just a name on a gravestone.

This is certainly a sad tale well told. Life never guarantees a smooth ride and some succumb to the depression of living in poverty. It can really bring you down to be different in that way.

The comma at the end of the first line, second paragraph is not needed. Great poem.

this is too real, and too sad...others can be hurtful to the point of detrimental. And instrumental in the giving up of another's life...words can hurt and have the power to kill.
