Slumber

Slumber

A Poem by Emilee

Sleeping soundly

Surrounded by

A thicket of thorns

Lies a girl

A girl who's beauty

Is legend

Golden luscious locks

Drape her head

Floating round

A pristine porcelain face

Ruby lips pulled into

a simple smile

With skin of silk

And butterfly wings for lashes

But with

Eyes never to open

And cheeks to be

forever pale

A girl who's kindness

was revered

Her words

like honey

So endeared

Soft and sweet

Loving and Lovely

In every which way

A tender heart

That loved all

An innocent smile

That brightened

even the darkest

of days

But with lips

never to part

And words

forever unsaid

A girl who's love

Is incomparable

A heart

Open and welcoming

Bringing joy

To those who choose

To receive her love

And to give

Some in return

Given freely

As simple as

A sweet smile

Or as daring as

A kiss

But with a heart

forever stilled

So in the woods

The lady awaits

Sleeping in slumber

only love can dissipate
