Late

Late

A Poem by Emily

For the record,

My gambit is

I’m done with your

Rococo style of art-

In your filthy rich mansion

You relish in your wealth

Always obsessed with your

Multi million dollar health

Your sententious attitude

Makes me want to cringe

Quick to judge if I forget to pray

Pray- when I can barely manage

To see the light at the end of the day

We’re not the same, accept it okay

You rank your friends based on

Their status of money

How shallow are you, honey?

If you were a buoy, you wouldn’t bob,

Too shallow of water, oh don’t sob

Honestly, your ties are scrubby

Yeah, you think all that matters is money-

My soon to be ex hubby

Someone is laboring to make those ties

Working hard day after day,

When-what you’re here complaining

That your order of exclusive grand marnier

Is arriving late today

Like a neon light bold and bright,

I’m ready for you to be out of my sight

If the chandelier was a trapeze, I’d swing down

Right away, and run out of this place,

Goodbye to you and your hell of a disgrace

To me the one, that says it’s all done

Hmmm... witness or a cast member - a toss-up. There was care before the anger overtook it and now 'tis sarcasm that rules. What opened closed mind? And is it really opened or is the ANGER just alive?

Describes a few people I've met over the years. The "Show me the Money!" crowd. The toxic yet eternal quest for wealth beyond what is needed blinds people to the simple beauty of life. Good read! enjoyed it a lot!

Your welcome!!!
I liked this poem a lot.

The above lines. So good and powerful/honest thoughts. I agree. Money is needed. Money is a part of life. Not our life. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry dear Emily.
