A mother's prayer

A mother's prayer

A Poem by EmpressPoetess
"

A dying mother's prayer to her children.

"

Now as I lay down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul will keep
smile for me, please don't weep
let your tears be those of peace
be thankful for my soul's release

let it be known, I did my best
as I go now to my final rest
let your tears touch a smiling face,
as you stand at my final resting place

as I close my eyes, I'll never really be gone
for, as long as you have love in your hearts
I will be here, I will live on

Dear love ones, I'll always be here
in spirit, if not in sight
so please, don't say goodbye,
but simply say, goodnight

This sleep is temporary

there's no need for tears and sighs
our God will wipe the tear from your eyes
our God has promised, that one day,
all these former things will pass away

Our God is making all things new!
"Write!", He says, "For these things
are faithful and true !"
(Revelations 21:1-7)

( To those I leave behind, continue to hold each other up,

in the faith...Goodnight.)

Lovely and comforting take on death, loss, and grief. Could be read at a funeral; in response to their passing. Which could comfort the grief-stricken attendees; change the tone on the funeral.
