Once More Into Battle

Once More Into Battle

A Poem by Eva Rosehill
"

For my Grandfather.

"

Once more into battle,
The sun rise above your head,
And illuminate the inevitable fate,
That the river soon will run red,

Once more into battle,
Clutch wooden crosses in cold hands,
And await the irrevocable future,
Of which death demands,

Once more into battle,
Whisper silent hopes and prayers,
As fortune favours the brave,
And death favours he who dares.

A strong poem that I am sure your grandfather would love. A wonderful poem of strength and real love. Bravo!

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words, I will be sure to read some of your work in return.
'fortune favours the bold and death favours he who dares'... i found this line very powerful! you've created an interesting contrast there. thank you for sharing
