I love you

I love you

A Poem by DrD

The first time I said, “I love you,”

You looked at me with confusion

“Of course you do,” you told me,

“I would have to be dead not to see it.”

And it was that simple between us

Stark and open like boasting facts

That we wore in brilliant colors

For a cold and hostile world to see.

“I’ve waited for you since the day

“I read my first love story,” you said

And I thought it was miraculous

And heaven itself could offer no more.

“But we won’t have a happy ending,” you added,

“What we’ve started can’t have an ending.”

And you were right, as you always were,

When expressing all your heart words.

We were shameless in all we felt

Reducing reality to the honor of love

And we learned that love is much like war

So easily started and not knowing an end

Finding ourselves within each other

We created our world as surely as god

And I live there still in the valley of memories

Where I repeat again to break the silence,

“I love you.”
