Sacred Solitude

Sacred Solitude

A Poem by Anne Korhonen
"

A poem about celibacy

"
My love life is at the crossroads
I've kissed too many toads
Lack of faith as my load
Confusing love to lust
forgetting that the body is only dust
Engagement became my wedding
I want to commit to Jesus with a purity ring
Because I've had my share of abuse and fornication
False friends ruining my reputation

I want to withdraw to sacred solitude
because human relations have no longitude
I'm tired of drowning into this teary flood
Approval of people defining if I'm bad or good
I should seek to please God first
Instead of following every wolf blood thirst
wanting from me one thing or another

Before giving out the physical, material goods I bother
I want to make sure of a legal, No Motives brother
A spiritual and sober, clean living brother
I want to make sure that we respect each other
before having a son or daughter
He should weigh my worth in gold
We should share common values and interests in order to grow old
If there are loving words and deeds in moderation
Then we can put the marriage in consideration
though family seems to be a dying institution
Marriage is a facade to hide moral pollution

Celibacy
is like fasting of the delicacy
with this initiative
love is ought to get more creative
by alternative ways to show affection
Like discussions to deepen connection
Quality time and common activities
Friendship before romance to create memories
Not to forget the importance of hugs and kisses

For the sisters with virginity
I wish I had kept mine till infinity
Now I'm mourning my lost innocence
I want no sex before marriage with confidence
Against temptation shall Lord be my defense
Satan sees the opportunity in loneliness
But I'll take time and space to grow in holiness
Banish the devil in prayer, meditation and fellowship
While waiting for the right relationship
I want to restore my peace of mind in abstinence
Heartbreak might shine in its absence
My body is a monastery without a nun
I'm gonna treat it holistically before loving anyone
