Snake In The Boat

Snake In The Boat

A Poem by Anne Korhonen
"

hypocrisy

"
There's nobody devout
but a snake in the boat
squirming subtly from the water
transparent and reliable like the Father
polluting the water blind and dark with poison
purified by the righteousness of the Son

beware of hypocrisy
because to break the law you are busy
you are hissing curses between your teeth
you commit adultery though you condemn deceit
you are a hater of God, a backbiter
though among enemies you become a whisperer

in whatever you condemn another
you become their partner in crime my brother
because to judge them for your deed you bother
you will have the same punishment
can't run away from God's judgment
so deal with your resentment

if you pray for your conviction
in faith the Bible isn't fiction
let the word become your addiction
let soft heart become your affliction
to an extent of undeserved forgiveness
good will shall replace evil-mindedness

love will dictate your life
there's no more need for envy and strife
peace will take over words and deeds violent
to parents you are obedient
you choose to be trustworthy
and drop your lifestyle dirty
