Mi AmorA Poem by F.GentilThe picture of our loveThe sky looked beautiful that night. The night where we talked and pondered our life, As we walked the city streets in New York City. Our disfigured shadow, My arm gripping your neck, Leaving little red fingerprints That would fade every time I would let go. The flame of our love has always been burning since that first day we met. I invited you over, Opened the door in nothing but a towel, Soaking wet, The water outlined every muscle The scale of the definition of my body, Every crevasse, All the chisel ripped places That Dancing and working out dug into my body, Glistened from the water like glitter on a disco ball. Your eyes flickered with excitement. Seeing you, mine did as well. Then we indulged in each other, No music or song to define the mood, Pure no strings sex. Our next encounter we spent over dinner, Eating a dish I created with love and tenderness, As we sat sipping on the crisp red wine in one glass, I was dirt poor living in an apartment with little furniture So we made do with that one glass. So romantic, Three years later, Even though a 1,400 mile space separates us, We are more in love than ever before. A few nights ago, you were looking at the first star you saw in the sky, And you sent me a picture saying you wish I was next to you. I look at the clock at eleven, eleven and that is my wish all the time, I just wish that forever I could hold you, As we lay together, In a pasture of green grass that covers fertile dirt That feels as soft as a feather. Our shadow disfigured Surrounded by billions of four leaf clovers As I smoke a clove cigarette, And our picnic basket right beside us With the initial K and F chiseled on the outside, Filled with my favorite chocolate chip cookies And your famous Spike-Hawaiian punch for our drink. The song “We found love,” fades away from the Pandora station we are listening to And Beyonce’s version of “Fever” begins to softy play. © 2013 F.GentilFeatured Review
