Fractured Windows

Fractured Windows

A Poem by D Alan Johnstone

Dusk seeps in

through gaping holes.

I am drunk.

The window and I

in solidarity.

My hole to fill

with 2D visions

for whom I am 2D as well.

Endless chatter

shares deep secrets

with 2 dimensions

I know the least.

Why do I let these beasts in

through fractured windows?

Why not burden

those I touch

with my secrets

…my love?

…could be

or the need to

be seen,

adored at times.

Fairy tales don’t survive.

I am alive and these windows

are smothering.

Open them up!

Feel this vivid landscape

for real.
