Your Star

Your Star

A Poem by Fiagai

On Winters’ dark nights when all is black,

I call for you but you never call back,

For you are the brightest star in the sky.

I watched you laugh, I heard you cry;

I stood past and watched you sleep,

Watched you take that final leap

‘Tween life and death,

Your last breath.

Then you were gone, then you were free,

To be what you wanted, what you wanted to be.

But now I’m not sad, and now I don’t mourn

Because I know even when God’s sun dawns,

And all the stars wink out,

I know you’re here with me, around and about.

And I know when night once again falls,

When once again for you I call,

Your star will shine bright,

Brighter than any sunlight.
