what is love

is love

siblings that fight

tease and scream

but never remember that

at the end of the day

because they're related

and they have to?

 

is love

the helpless teenage girl

that kisses some guy at school

and cries a month later

when they break up

because he made her feel...special,

and took up her

lonely, empty time?

 

is love

the parents who fight

scream and curse

and throw things

make the children

wail and hide, they're

at it again

 

is love

the elderly couple,

always bickering about

prices and cars and

retirement and things they

need to fix and

oh my aching

back

 

is love

the lonely girl that

writes about this

one frightened guy who

can't take his mind off

the one lovely girl who's

dating her ex and

he's said he loves her

once but not

romantically

what does that

mean?

 

what is love?

 

she refuses to speak it

until she knows.

 

this can't possibly be love.
