`stainless steel`

`stainless steel`

A Poem by Fran Marie

standing
 in the shadows
       of love with

 half a heart

sanded down to that flat final finish
 serrated with sorrow's sharp knife

all that remains
are rusted reminders
of love's laughter once shared

        and your stainless steel heart
is no worse for the ware

i was cut enough by sorrow's sharp knife, in my life....have bled these same words.

and now my heart is stainless steel...it's the protective shield we develop...
and sometimes now it seems the pain bypasses the emotional state of mind and goes straight to the pen.

Thank you so very mu h, Valentine,
Poignant drops of remorse're being found in your somber poetry. It displays how even the love can be a 'stainless piece of steel' & how it could be eroded by the blood of heart. Nice flow of ink.

Hi Fran. I felt the pain! So sad, and the emotion thrusts forth from the words to grab the readers attention, and wrest empathy . . . for they too have suffered at some point. A stainless steel heart . . . cold, uncompromising and impervious, what a wonderful analogy!!. Loved this, alf

Thanks, Alf, I so very much appriciate it..
When the surface of our heart is exposed the oxidation of pain eats away at it while the cold steel heart of the culprit remains as ever - impenetrable. A cold write that chews at the core.

So true ..many thanks FT..I so appreciate it;
Total eclipse of the heart. It Sucks when you see the other not showing outward signs of the pains we feel because the love separation. You truly touch with a perfect fit of words.
