My Rose

My Rose

A Poem by Joan Probst

True love is short and sweet.

My Rose

Joan Probst

I don't want your body.

I want your heart,

Your mind,

to be mine.

Meet me in the backyard,

We can dance by the swings.

Let’s drink wine and sing all night,

Nothing but the TV to distract us.

Then I'll look up from my tub,

While you're dancing in front of me.

Chain smoking in the bathroom of your favorite place.

Smoke gives you a glow that I can't ignore.

Don't think about the past,

They are all dead.

Let's go back to my swimming pool,

We can last among the stars.

The worlds, they seem so far

And yet you're right next to me.

I don't think about others,

Like I think about you.

Platinum hair, rose cheeks,

the colors we both love.

Your heart and mind captures me like

My lungs capture your dust.

This golden paradise won't last,

So, My Rose, let's love in the moment.
