Heart of glass

Heart of glass

A Poem by HeatherWoodard

An innocent little girl,
Wasn't prepared for this vast world

Her heart was crystal clear
Like the love she held so dear..

Then she saw a key
Lying on the floor
It unlocked the secrets
Behind that big door

Her eyes opened wide as she saw the truth
The world is old and dark and cruel
Not full of love and beauty and youth.

Isn't youth meant to be beautiful?
Our hearts are made of glass
They shatter with the slightest touch.
The world was just too much
For this innocent girl.

This world is so harsh to young girls; who are forced to grow up too fast. Childhood is lost with the changing times and technology. This is a beautiful poem; thanks for sharing it. Your ideas are very clear and that's refreshing. Thank you so much
