The Cause

The Cause

A Poem by Homeschool
"

The idea that throughout time, there have always been upper class individuals who oppress their equals, and they never learn. Instead, they do anything to preserve their power, to ease their lives.

"

The Cause

Fattened hogs lie in a dazed summer stupor,

Sipping air through dirt-caked nostrils,

Disgusting tubes to ventilate the rotting systems of the swine,

A means to  preserve utter wastes of time.

These nurtured behemoths battle against nature,

Disturbing the balance,

Gorging with mindless precision,

Saliva saturating the soil with moist nuzzling,

A rapist drooling on the neck of its victim,

As the city sleeps behind and the smoke stacks howl,

Through centuries of night, the privileged will fill their bowels.

Factories roar with embers born

From the fires of hopeless toil,

The work of lowly laborers and piteous souls.

Mothers sit sewing patches to their husbands’ clothes.

Alone in the slums,

Sobs haunt these apartment halls.

A pipe drips inside a wall,

And all she can think of is

“How did this happen?

What was the cause?”
