Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by The Inner Me
"

I wrote this several years ago the night after my Papaw died.

"
Goodbye MY Papaw I had to say,
A night ago on a hot summer day.
I’ll remember the good times,
and try not to be sad.
But saying goodbye,
still hurts so damn bad.
I miss you more than I can express,
and promise my love will never grow less.
I keep trying to imagine how I will go on.
but then I realize tomorrow is another dawn.
I know you’re in heaven up above,
looking down on me with all your love.
Only to whisper in my ear,
remember, I’ll always love you dear.
I’ll never forget the good times we had,
Remember you, as the man that was like my dad.
I’ll remember you each and every day,
and if I need to talk to you,
I’ll just sit down and pray.
I know one day we’ll be together again,
to talk about all the places we have been.
What a laugh we will share,
you know, we were always such a pair!
Until that time I’ll always treasure,
having you in my life, was such a great pleasure.

such a beautiful tribute...we never fully recover from the loss of a parent...
and in some way they stay with us, in spirit...
