Malignant Fancy

Malignant Fancy

A Poem by J Carly
"

For the love of a narcissist

"

I'm unable to focus for the thought of you

When I close my eyes, your face is all I see

I try to hide from the distraction of your vision

In an effort to keep my heart moving forward

But loving you is poison that spreads slowly

No end to its seeping; this tender venom in my veins

Deep within my heart, it unfurls

Tangling me in its web

And paralyzing me with its power

Breaking down every fiber of my resistance

Until I can no longer sleep unless I dream

And in my dreams there is only you

Absolutely love the title...don't you dare change it...

And yes, I said I would write a review on this once you've published it so here it is. Simply amazing (I've already said that I know, but it's the truth so I had to write it again). The line that really stands out to me is "Breaking down every fiber of my resistance". There is pure power in your written words that I feel beams out to the reader...well to me anyway. I said this write was worthy of the readers attention and I mean that...it's certainly going to be a fav of mine and that's where it's going to stay.

See I said there was potential in the poem and what you've created is a piece filled to the brim with emotion (your dazzling emotion) that screams "masterpiece". I am actually feeling weak after reading it here with the title that suits it perfectly and the picture which captures the beauty of the poem. Once again, my friend, you have proved why I believe you are a Goddess of the Written Word.

Well, I don't give fluff reviews either and I must say this is beautiful. I've been in this exact position at least once and the way you described the thoughts/feelings associated with it was eloquent and spot-on. Your imagery is vivid and your words are unpretentious. The title is a perfect fit. The only thoughts that crossed my mind were that maybe a hyphen should be after slowly because the sentence isn't meant to flow freely. But maybe that's what the line break was for. And I'm curious as to why you chose the pic you did. I think it's a reference to bugs being lured into a web and then trapped, but I'm not entirely certain. Great job on this, Carly.

This is deeply moving.. you take us into the emotion and psychology of loving.. even in the pain.. There can be that overwhelming sense of the other where all you think of is that person... even when it hurts... beautifully expressed.
