What Love Is

What Love Is

A Poem by Joshua Carl Cruz

is an emotion most unjust,
most afeared, for a list of reasons
i've wriiten here:
1. it's almost never ready
2. it's rarely ever done
3. it effects your work
4. it wrecks your home
5. it's suspicious
6. sometimes, it's just business
7. it's in the WRONG DIRECTION!!
8. it's tough to bluff
9. it doesnt play fair
10. it kicks and it bucks like a wild horse,
knocking you on your a*s, to be sure but...
it doesn't punish,
it doesn't relinquish,
it gives without hesitation
and it cares without explination
it lives inside of our hearts-
right alongside our loneliest
loneliness, our reluctance,
and our collective rage,
and yet...
it finds it's way through
thunders past the ugliness,
rushes past the hurtful looks
and senseless solitude
champions a path,
is another chance
for you
to find out
what you're made of
and if not, well, my friend,
will find it's way to you...
