Skies in MourningA Poem by James McFadyen
The skies in mourning, the clouds they weep
Rain cascades like tears, they creep Down the panes from which I gaze Out beyond the summer haze There are no hands to catch the fall Only trees and plants, one and all Cupped, leaves agape to drink Heavens sorrow - At least I think it sorrow It could as well be joy A happiness exceeded, jubilation that cloys For nature is beautiful, indefinitely divine Its grandeur will outlive yours, even mine Hence why, the skies right now they cry They know what lives, they know we die I cannot emphasise with this sentiment To weep with joy seems so impertinent I digress from this spectacle, retreat to my keep For now it is my turn I think to weep.
