A Mother's Affair

A Story by JBudak
"

a story about escaping the drudgery of housewifedom

"
"I've been thinking about you since I woke up this morning," she whispers into the dark silently closing the closet door behind her. "We have to be quiet. The twins are finally napping."

The next 45 minutes are muffled ecstasy, lit by the blue glow of her iPhone screen. She wraps her lips around her secret lover and let's the sweet fluid flood her throat. She stifles a giggle as she glances at her cell phone screen. "Facebook," she explains in hush. "You don't mind, love, do you?" No response.

"Mommy!" comes the cry through the baby monitor. She sighs.

"I'll see you tonight," she whispers, kissing the merlot bottle and shoving the cork into its neck. She tucks the bottle safely behind the bath towels.

this is very witty; there is a fine line here between tragedy and comedy and it's hard to know here to come down..it's secretive and somehow dangerous but also stifled and devoted...it is a bitter irony of sorts..really very good :)
