Melanin

Melanin

A Poem by Jasmijn

We cry the same tears
over the ones who hurt us

We bleed the same
as they shoot us
for a crime we did not commit

We just have different eyes
cause I don't see in black and white
I see in fire, I see in sparks

We have the same hopes
to be loved by that special person
to be good and safe
to be allowed not to be okay

We are all human
you just have to decide which glasses you'll pick

I'm not choosing the colour of your skin
I'm choosing the colour of your soul

If you're not a fool
Always save a soul
never take one

i felt this, and particularly like the last three stanzas...powerful stuff...
yes, we all cry the same tears, bleed the same color blood and have the same colored hearts and souls.
