noon at long bay

noon at long bay

A Poem by J

i am still a child, uncertain.
pendulums, the way of shared
and unbroken love.

about me and this other me, fickle and undying,
let them read of stones and leaves underneath
the passing of strangers.

how i come to this place, knowing there is only the quiet of my heart,
the slipstream of bodies rushing into water, the press of sun my solitude,
the scouring of sand my roots to this earth.

i want this touch to last forever. i want this daylight to cover me
with more than warmth, more than a glimmer of protection,
an invocation of forgiveness and compassion.

let these stars ignite, spinning in their seemingly perpetual ease,
let them spin and burn and wonder at humanity, at the frailty
of seeking without a vision, of consciousness

without direction.

How wonderful to read. It's very beautiful. It makes me think of summer nights gazing at the stars and wondering so many things or lying in a field of grass as a child again watching the clouds pass; inventing animals from the shapes...or walking along the beach and staring at the sand looking for shells and shark's teeth...all this and more...

The only way we ever grow is by walking through the world as open and trusting and vulnerable as children. This is a beautiful look through the eyes of a truly spiritual human being, and I feel honored to have entered this still sacred space with you. That you permitted me, as a reader, to do so. How often have I gone out in the wilderness with a broken heart, in order to feel the rough stone under bare feet on mountaintops, the warm sun on my back when I dared to get naked and lay out under the hot sun on some obscure peak far away from trails? I have sought and maybe touched this during those exquisitely sublime moments of human trascendence and joy. It is so wonderful to know I am not alone there. The human condition itself can be understood and even forgiven under such circumstances.

There seems an underlying connection between your subconscious & sand...
Or perhaps it is just the sirens calling from the ocean. :D
