They Lied To Us

They Lied To Us

A Poem by JP142000

We grow up being told that we can be whatever we want
They lied to us
Maybe they didn't mean to
Maybe they were only trying to help
But now I'm sitting here lost
Confused on what to do with myself
Because I was told I could be the President
But that is very unlikely
I was told I could be a movie star
But Hollywood doesn't prefer my face
They told me I could change the world
But I would have to have made a compelling case for a cause worthy of the world
And I simply don't have that case
I have come to a conclusion
A rather shocking kind
The kind of conclusion that hurts so bad that you know its the truth
And that gives you some piece of mind
I believe they simply super-sized the truth
See me and you can be wonderful far beyond our youth
But maybe we weren't men't to change the world
Maybe that's not God's plan
Maybe the truth is...
WE ARE ONLY SUPPOSE TO CHANGE OUR WORLD
Our bubble
Our personal universe
Maybe we are only suppose to change the lives of the people around us
Be a light in a dark world
Or maybe they just lied to us...
