I wrote this a whole ago, but haven't posted it until now.
Bike jump
I've been caught off guard
My gears have shifted
Uphill pedaling's been hard
My breathing has lifted
As the downhill suddenly
Appears at the crest
Yes, this is the best!
My feet release the clip
A smile upon my lip
And I let go
Arms spread wide
I ride
This slope
I hope
It's not too fast
Who cares
This is a blast
The pedals spin
And we begin
To descend
To gear without fear
The chain oiled
The brakes pump
We're ready for the jump
It's not just his biking
I am liking
I see his heart
It's my favorite part
His passion for life
Of his own device
The twinkle in his eyes
I can't stop
Thinking about him
He's at the top
I can't explain
Or tell exactly why
I can't refrain
Or even try
From missing his arms
And sparkly charms
Surrounding me
So perfectly
So for now
We allow
Ourselves to ride this trail
Breathe in, exhale
Let life bring
Our moment...
It's everything
what a powerful metaphor used in this love poem...reminds me of a scene in "City of Angels"
when Meg Ryan is riding her bicycle at the end of the movie...the freedom she is feeling but also the love of Seth...even with the tragic ending of the movie...there is that moment for both that once shared neither would take back ever.

Yes! The feeling is amazing, freedom and joy. Thanks Jacob!
I couldn't help but be reminded of that scene in "City of Angels", where Meg Ryan is riding her bike with her arms outstretched from her shoulders, and her eyes are closed while she's gliding...unfortunately, there's an 18 wheeler coming straight for her and he doesn't have time to break.
What a euphoric feel you've given us, Jenn. We need to take hold of more moments like this, and enjoy what is there!

Unfortunately there was a big truck headed toward this one...a truck in the form of words...hence the shredded poem. So glad it gave the felt sense I was going for.
This is the kind of ride I pray everyone experiences with no crash
landing of course, otherwise that would be another sad poem I
wouldn't want to read, this piece was fun, loved the metaphor use
Thanks for sharing and b-blessed!
