Can you not

Can you not

A Poem by Jessica Q

The little voice speaks

The wind carries it

all over the world

Can you not hear it?

It is so loud, so proud

So full of suffering

Can you not taste it?

Sleep evades the world

It does not creep in

Sleep evades this little voice

that deserves to be so big

Can you not see it?

It is a speck among specks

Look as it glitters

Can you not feel it?

It is forgotten

Overlooked and ignored

Abandoned and defeated

it needs to be embraced

Can you not hear it?

Can you not taste it?

Can you not see it?

Can you not feel it?

Listen well

Stick out your tongue

Open your eyes

Touch your heart

Your creative and politically leaning purposeful write, reminded me of OneVoice website's objectives (see- www.onevoicemovement.org).

OneVoice is an international movement of Americans, Palestinians, Israelis, Europeans, Muslims, Jews and Christians who are fed up with the ongoing conflict and who are ready and eager to support a serious process, leading to a comprehensive agreement that will fulfil the hopes and aspirations of both the Palestinian and the Israeli people for a two-state solution.

It's good to read a conscious nudging piece - well constructed, with a refreshingly readable style of presentation.

A very thought-provoking and inspirational write. I loved how simple the poem was, yet how much meaning it carried.

Lovely, stunning, sweet and powerful. Using simple language you create a big atmosphere.. little voice/ big world cleverly inverted to be important voice/ mad world. I really like "speck among specks". The last stanza is a peach. Good good poem, well done you.

Very true.. the little one always speaks.. loud enough, yet we don't hear as our minds elsewhere.

a good one here.
